Parc-yr-Helyg has a vast biodiversity of plants and insects. It is this unique habitat that makes this area so important for Birchgrove. The list below has been expertly created by Roy and Neil Jones. Any comments or additions would be very welcome.
The listing's below are quite common species on the whole. Many will be easily recognised although many will be less known by name. Some of the species will have escaped from gardens and others may have been planted when houses were built. The scientific names are given as some species have several common names particularly in different parts of the country but scientific names are standard.
Further surveys will be carried out from time to time and the list modified if necessary. Corrections or additions will be welcomed.
